Amy Brown
Amy Brown was working in a small art gallery at the age of twenty one when the owner asked her to paint something (he suggested a fairy) to fill an empty frame. When her painting was displayed in the gallery, it sold within three days. So she painted another. She has been painting and selling fantasy art related to faeries and other mystical creatures ever since. She had always been interested in mystical creatures, as it was a childhood interest. In an interview, she would say that Brian Froud, an English illustrator who does fantasy and fairies, was her largest inspiration. But her time at the gallery, Festival of Art, honed her knowledge and skill about art and painting. It was her watercolor paintings where she made her name. She began selling her paintings to other galleries and at street fairs. Her artwork has since been made into fairy figurines, dolls, jewelry, costumes and tattoos, among other things. She has a line of clothing and memorabilia that features her faery art. It has also been published in two books as the Art of Amy Brown.
The figurines of Amy Brown are handpainted and generally made of cold cast resin or pewter. They are typically priced between $20 and $30. In addition to her fairy divas, you can also find mermaids, dragons and other mystical art.
