Sheila Wolk
Sheila Wolk has created a line of fairy figurines based on her fantasy artwork that typically sells for between $30 and $70 each.
Her development into a fantasy artist was a long journey. She began as a medical illustrator for a pharmaceutical company and worked her way up to Art Director. When she left, she bounced around for a bit as a freelance illustrator, coat check girl and model until she started her own business selling silk screened canvas totes and, later, nightshirts for babies. When that business failed, she worked as a sports artist for over twenty years. But she tired of the business and, after an exhibition in hyper-realism, began her career as a fantasy artist with a painting about a mermaid.

Wolk isn't just a one trick pony. Prior to her work in fantasy art, she was named the 1987 Sport Artist of the Year by the American Sport Art Museum and Archives for her twenty years of involvement in the profession. She also was the first American to paint in the hyper-realism style which had been adopted by a few French painters when she did so in the 1980s.
